Chennai: All districts reported more than 100 cases on Thursday when the state added 28,561 more patients into the Covid-19 registry.
There were 39 deaths and at the end of the day there was 1.79 lakh active cases compared to 1.70 lakh on Wednesday.
Prohibiting Chennai, Madurai and Kalakurichi, 35 of the remaining districts in the state reported an increase in new cases compared to their Wednesday counting.
The sharpest increase was reported from Coimbatore, where cases increased to 3,390 compared to 3,082 on Wednesday.
Chennai, who continued to report the highest number of new cases, saw the sharpest sauce of up to 7,520 new cases compared to 8,007 reported on Wednesday.
After Chennai and Coimbatore, Chengalpet reported 2,196 new cases and Kanyakumari reported 1,148 new cases.
