Lucknow: All 75 districts above will have medical colleges for the next six months, said the chairman of Yogi Aditentalath, while examining Maharihi Devraha Baba Medical College, Deoria, on Sunday.
“This is ironic only 12 government medical colleges are built on 1947 and 2016, but our government established 32 new medical colleges because of the power assumption in 2017,” he said.
Teaching will begin at Deoria-based medical college from the next academic session and it is one of nine universities that will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after nodding from the Indian Medical Council.
Referring to the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Surakha Yojana, CM said, no one could imagine Deoria would have medical colleges even five years ago.
“More than Rs 155 years have been spent on the 208crore RS project.
The faculty’s appointment has been completed and the rest of the work will be completed in December,” he said.
CM said, the medical college chain was established in 59 districts with central and state resources.
Describing the plan, said Yogi, while Brd Medical College, Gorakhpur, is the only Institute to serve the east up, now there will be medical colleges in Deoria, Basti and Siddharthnagar too.
Construction work has been going on at Kushinagar.
“AIIMS Gorakhpur with world-class medical facilities has become functional and will be inaugurated by PM Modi in October,” he said.
Medical colleges have played an important role in flattening pandemic charts in the most populous states in the country.
“The encephalitis is also controlled in the past four and a half years.
After Deoria is also among the districts that are most affected by encephalitis, but now death has dropped by 95%,” he said.
