All eyes on September rain as the Monsun deficit widened

New Delhi: Bad rain in August has expanded the Monsune deficit in this country.
Although it is not yet clear whether the overall rainy season will still be ‘normal’ as expected before, at the end of the four-month season of the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) is a banking on the possibility of good rain in September to bridge the gap.
The cumulative rainfall record of the first three months of the rainy season shows that the overall deficit increased from 1% on 31 July to 9% on August 31 with Northwest and India being reported maximum departure.
“We will come out with a monthly estimate for September on Wednesday,” said Head of IMD, M Mohapatra, admitted that the rainfall in August was not as expected, resulting in widening deficit.
Taking attention to the progress of the monsoon and phase ‘break’ intervention, personal weather forecasting agents, Skymet weather, has been on August 23, estimating a 60% chance of rainfall of the rainy season ‘below normal’ for a period of four months from June to September.
The IMD has, however, at this point is preferred not to reduce previous predictions on the overall ‘normal’ monsoon rainfall in India.
It was on June 1, estimating that seasonally southwest seasonal (June to September) rainfall throughout the country as a whole most likely ‘normal’ (96 to 104% of the average period of long periods).
However, certain areas including Gujarat and Western Rajasthan are likely to face the condition of ‘drought’ because the deficit is quite deep in the region.
