Ranchi: Chairman of the Minister of Hemant Soren said on Tuesday he had directed the State Forest Department, the environment and wildlife to ensure that puppies were planted throughout the government land in the state.
Speaking at the 72nd Van Mahotsav launch at Gandhi Gram near the Getalsud Dam in Block Angara District Ranchi, Soren said that almost 1 Lakh can be planted in Ranchi.
“The Ministry of Forestry aims to plant more than 1.5 Crore Anyah in Jharkhand during the rainy season this year.
While coming to this event, I direct all departmental officials to ensure that puppies are planted in all vacant land in the urban area owned by the government,” Soren said.
Said that urban afforestation was the only way ahead, Soren also asked residents to be actively involved in the plantation drive.
“Plantations need to be taken actively in rural areas of the country.
Although there are several plantation programs run by the Ministry of Forestry and the state horticulture mission from time to time, most of them are only on paper,” Soren said.
“The department must now distribute the pupns of trees containing fruit in rural areas regularly with the help of local legislators, Mukhiyas village and locals.
The scope of Mukhyamantri Jan Van Yojana needs to be improved,” he added.
In particular, this scheme requires financial subsidies of up to 75% by the state government if the recipient aims to plant trees containing fruit in their soil for generation livelihoods.
Speaking at the event, the Principal of the Forest Conservator (PCCF) P K VERMA said this department aims to plant 1.7 crore vegetables throughout the state during the rainy season.
“The importance of this special practice can be measured by the fact that Jharkhand forest cover increased by 1,625 square kilometers in the last 20 years,” Verma said.
