Patna: Cm Nith Kumar on Monday said he would hold a meeting of all parties after Bypolls assembly in the state to make unanimous decisions on demand to conduct a caste-based census in the state.
“Representatives from all 10 political parties will sit together and hold discussions on caste-based censuses in Bihar,” he said.
Election officers are scheduled for October 30 in the constituency of the Assembly of Kusheshwar Asthan and Tarapur in the state.
Vote counting will be held on November 2, meaning that the proposed meeting will be detained after that.
For a question, CM says he will take into account all existing rules and regulations before reaching any decision about this problem.
“I have full confidence that all political parties in the country will reach consensus on this issue,” Nitish said as he repeated his request to hold a wise population enumeration during the Census-2021.
Nitish further said the delegation of 10 political parties from Bihar had met PM Narendra Modi (on August 23) and explained him everything in support of conducting a caste-based census throughout the country.
“During our meeting with PM, we demanded that the caste-based census must be held throughout the country.
Now, it’s up to the center to think about our requests and make a decision,” Nitish said.
Delayed long demand was revived in July this year after the United States received information at Lok Sabha that it would not mention a wise population, except those from SCS and STS.
Replying to written requests at Lok Sabha on July 20 this year, the State Union Minister for Nityanan and Rai houses (derived from Bihar) said the Indian government had decided as a matter of policy not to mention the caste population besides SCS and STS in the 2021 census.
