Chennai: All places of worship in the state will be closed to the public from January 14 to January 18, the government said on Monday.
There will also be a total of the kuncian on January 16, Sunday.
This means that people cannot go to temples on Pongal Day and those who return from the break festival will not be able to travel on that Sunday.
Getting bus tickets is also more difficult because the government has limited occupancy in all government buses (Pongal Special) to 75%.
The number of bus services has not increased.
On Monday, the Department of Transportation confirmed that it would not operate the bus again above the amount announced last month.
