Kozhikode: All 24 samples of eight people sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune have been tested negatively for the Nipah virus, said Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Tuesday.

He further informed that the testing lab at the Medical College Govery Hospital, Kozhikode will also start testing the sample today.
“We can test almost everyone who is in isolation in the hospital today,” he added.
On Monday, he said, “RT-PCR and other sample testing will be carried out in Kozhikode.” Veena George has been camping in Kozhikode for the past three days since the first case of the Nipah virus this year was reported in this district.
A 12-year-old boy died after being infected by Nipah in Kozhikode.
As many as 251 people are registered during contact contacts.
Of this amount, 129 are health workers and 54 are in a high-risk category.
Of the total contacts identified, 11 are symptoms.
Of the 54 high-risk categories, 30 are health workers.
These health workers come from one clinic and four hospitals, including MCH, Kozhikode.
Previously on Sunday, the central government had rushed the public health team to Kozhikode Kerala District when the country reported the first death due to the Nipah virus this year.
To provide technical support to the state, the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) is rushed to the country.
