Sambhal: The leader of the Senior Congress Rashid Alvi here said all who raised the slogan “Jai Shri Ram” was not a wise man, quoted the devil from Ramayana and urged people to remain vigilant.
The statement by Alvi pulled a sharp reaction from BJP leader Amit Malviya, who accused the leader of the Congress to call everyone who raised the slogan as “demon”.
The Alvi made the statement in “Kalki Mahotsav” here on Thursday night.
Alvi said there were some people who were “misleading” others by raising the “Jai Shri Ram” slogan.
But they are all not “Munis” (wise people) and there is a need to remain vigilant, said the Congress leader, stressed that there was no room for hatred in Ram Ram.
Alvi refers to episodes in Ramayana, where Hanuman is given the task of bringing “Sanjivini” to save Laxman’s life.
In the episode, Ravan made Satan appear in the form of a saint while Hanuman was on his way to bring “Sanjivani”, a concoction that could cure Laxman.
Hanuman is then told by “Apsara” (Nimfa) that the Saints are actually the devil who wants to waste his time, according to the epic.
The Alvi’s view has come for criticism by BJP leader Amit Malviya who tweeted, “After Salman Khurshid, now the leader of Congress Rashid Alvi called on those who said ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as a demon for the thought of Congress for Ram worshipers.” He also posted the video clip of Alvi.
Recently, the leader of Congress Salman Khurshid invited controversy over the comparison of the “strong version” of Hindutva with Jihadi terror groups.
