Chennai: Tamil Nadu added 3,086 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, issued 14,051 patients and declared 25 deaths.
In the end, there were 56,002 cases active in the country’s registry.
All districts report a decrease in new cases compared to their Thursday counting.
Chennai (590) and Coimbatore (569) reported the maximum number of cases in the country followed by Chengalpet (261).
All other districts reported less than 200 cases.
While 27 of the 38 districts reported cases in two digits, Thirupathur (7), Mayiladuthurai (5), Screens (5) and Tenkasi (5) reported cases in one digit.
“Cases have fallen dramatically but we still can’t drop our guards.
We have to make ourselves vaccinated, wear masks and maintain social distance,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.

While vaccination will prevent disease, transmission can be slowed if the Covid protocol is maintained,” he said.
Of 56,002 active cases, 57% of them were in seven districts including Chennai (8057), Coimbatore (7394) and Chengalpet (4948).
Of the 25 deaths, Chennai reported six, Tiruvallur had three and there were two each in Salem, Cuddalore and Madurai.
“Parents and people who are not vaccinated are at the highest risk for complications and deaths,” said Medical Education Director Dr.
R Narayabu.
More than 1 crore people matured for their second dose.
At least 93,744 people over 15 years took their vaccination on Friday.
Since January 10, 4.82 lakh people have taken a booster dose.
