Hyderabad: The British era post office that has been changed with the latest technology also adopts alternative energy sources to ensure unbroken services for Lakh customers throughout Telangana.
Officials said that shifting to solar power would be implemented in more than 6,000 post offices, gradually.
The Post Department’s target is to run all post offices in Telangana on solar power at the end of 2023, a senior official said.
At present, the Dak Sadan building in Abids, which is the headquarters of the Circle of Post Telangana, runs on solar power, with a peak capacity of 50 kilowatt.
Other buildings with similar facilities include the construction of the GPO Hyderabad, also with a capacity of 50 KWP and the construction of the HPO Secunderabad with a capacity of 30 KWP.
The Charminar Post Office with a capacity of 8.75 KWP and post office in Medak with a capacity of 8 KWP, ready to operate on solar power.
