Prayagraj: The High Court of Allahabad on Thursday Stayed the Commandment of the Varanasi High Court to direct an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to conduct a comprehensive physical survey of Gyanvapi mosque compounds adjacent to Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi.
The lower court on April 8 has ordered the ASI survey to investigate the place of the mosque, saying that the exercise was needed to decide the request that accusing the mosque was built by Emperor Mughal after partly destroying Hindu temples.
The order on the request demanded the recovery of land where the Gyanvapi mosque stood up, for Hindus.
The Plaintiff, in the name of the ancient idol of Swayamhu Lord Wesweshwar, said that the ruler of Mughal Aurangzeb, in 1664, destroyed the temple and built a mosque in remnants.
The suit was filed in 1991 who was looking for an ancient temple restoration at the location where the Gyanvapi mosque was currently standing.
On March 15, the High Court of Allahabad succeeded in assessing various kinds, who had challenged the maintenance of the 1991 lawsuit before the Varanasi Court court, was looking for the recovery of an ancient temple in the location where the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi is now standing.
