Prayagraj: The University of Allahabad (AU) has decided not to stop using plastic using a single on campus but also spread awareness about the problem outside the campus.
The University Administration has associated in senior faculty members and research scholars to lead efforts to make the campus varsitas center free of single plastic in all forms.
At the initiative of Deputy Chancellor Prof.
Sangita Srivastava the dedicated team has been formed on the campus called a single plastic removal committee ‘, led by Prof.
Mohan Prasad.

The committee formed for the task also includes the Professor and Head of Department (HODs).
Events such as drive awareness and visits to the department to motivate teachers and students to embrace the working style that is more environmentally friendly with plastic without planned weapons.
According to Public Relations (PRO) AU officials, Jaya Kapoor, “the University administration is determined to make the campus free of plastic with single use and therefore the same thing has been banned on campus”.
The University Grant (UGC) commission in September 2019, has issued guidelines for higher education institutions throughout the country to force a single plastic ban on use.

This guideline also mandates all students to avoid carrying non-biodegradable plastic items to institutions and installing alternative facilities needed such as water units to prevent the use of the plastic.
