Bihar Sharif: In the tragedy of Hooch who was allegedly in dry Bihar, four people had died here after allegedly consuming fake liquor, triggering shock waves at the headquarters of the main minister of house Kumar Nalanda, police said on Saturday.
The deceased, all in the age group 50-55 years, owned by residents of Chhoti Pahia and Talki Pahah in the Sohsarai police station area.
Their families have claimed that they consumed liquor on Friday, fell ill and died.
Bihar Sub-division officer Sharif Kumar Anurag, who met with a mourning family member, insisted that “alcohol consumption will be confirmed only after post mortem”.
The ban on sales of liquor and consumption was enforced in Bihar in April 2016 even though the efficacy was always questioned.
Last year, around Deepawali, the Hooch tragedy claimed more than 40 lives in four districts.
One of these districts is the West Champaran and on Friday Snide Comment by a spokesman JD (U) about Sanjay Jaiswal, a local parliament member, raised a strong reaction from the latter who also became President of BJP State.
Jaiswal came out with a long Facebook post, confirmed that he took the attack as a coming from the party chairman since Defractor Abhishek Jha was the official spokesperson JD (U).
Jaiswal said he was very supportive of the “review” law of liquor that might mean good but the implementation that had brought a bad name to the country.
He claims to have personal knowledge of many examples where people from other countries must suffer from carrying liquor even though they only pass Bihar.
Jaiswal has asked a serious question for the role of the police in the law enforcement of a bad ban and said that the strict provisions of 10 years in prison must be intended for men in uniform in the forbidden liquor business.
