Mumbai: In the light of modified guidelines issued by the Maharashtra government on August 16, 2021, holding mall staff to return to work unless they are vaccinated with two doses with a loose 14 days after the second dose, it is very unfortunate.
All states have decided to close.
“With the applicable restrictions, the mall will not be able to open and operate because it will be at least a month (while the end of September) before the large number of our staff get their second dose and meet the criteria, provided available and there is no shortage of statement” SCAI (Indian shopping center association) say.
SCAI has made several representations since the command of the state government on August 9 requested relaxation of the mandate to have a double vaccination for malls and retail staff.
In representation, SCAI has quoted its inability to operate for the following reasons: • More than 80 percent of our workforce falls in the age group of 18-44 years, belonging to the economically weaker society – this group has been vaccinated with the first dose of Covid vaccine 19 of them.
• The main reason for the inability of staff to take both doses is supply constraints witnessed by the state.
• Vaccination for the 18-44 age group in Maharashtra began on May 1 before being suspended twelve days later due to lack of acute vaccine.
• Vaccination then continued to the group only around June 21 2021.
In the interim period, the central government increases the gap between two covishield doses to 12-16 weeks.
• Maharashtra has witnessed a disruption until May 2021 in the vaccination of the age group.
• Vaccination is only around June 21, 2021.
The shopping center in the state has been closed for more than 270/345 days since the pandemic struck which results in large losses and cannot be recovered; “We are worried that the trend will continue if the urgent steps are not taken to facilitate the limitations ‘specifically applicable to malls’.
On the other hand, many mall owners have great debts because financing and these restrictions only ensure larger difficulties.
In serving These obligations.
While the government has never considered retail staff as part of the front line staff even though there is a demand from the industry, we want to urge CM to reconsider the application of this clause for malls and malls and retail to open if the staff is vaccinated with one dose.
It will help in the survival of Lakh staff working in modern malls / retailers and help them get their livelihoods, “Scai statement said in the end.
