Puducherry: Close to 10% of the population in the Union Puducherry region has been positively tested for Covid-19.
The area with a population of 12.48 lakh (such as the 2011 census) has so far reported 1.2 lakh cases.
The population is projected between 14 lakh and 16 lakh in 2021.
So far, 1.17 lakh patients have recovered registering the recovery rate of 97.8%, which is higher than the national average of 97.4%.
The region reported 126 new cases even when 121 patients recovered in the last 24 hours ended at 10 am on Saturday taking active cases to 922.
From them, 759 were under isolation and home care.
Puducherry head office reported maximum new cases with 98 followed by Karaikan (18), Mahe (8) and Yanam (2).
Puducherry headquarters reported maximum active cases with 714 followed by Karaikan (124), Mahe (57) and Yanam (27).
A 73-year-old man from karaetic died because the infection took the death toll to 1,787.
Puducherry headquarters have maximum death with 1,420 followed by Karaikan (225), Yanam (104) and Mahe (38).
Infection mortality rates reach 1.5%, higher than the national average (1.3%).
The sample front level (6,054) tested on Saturday reached 2.1%.
The health care authority has so far tested 14.61 lakh swab samples where 12.48 lakh is restored negatively.
They have so far been managed by 6.66 lakh-19-19 vaccine doses (including second dose) to beneficiaries.
