Pune: Next month, district officials face the assignment of Mammoth to vaccinate nearly 10 lakh people from a 45-plus group that will be eligible for the second dose of the covishield.
These beneficiaries are vaccinated early in April and according to the norm, they will need a second dose after 12 to 16 weeks.
The scope of this group must also occur along with 18-44 vaccinations, which means more sites, more personnel and more doses.
According to data from the district health office, more than 14 Lakh residents were vaccinated against Covid in April.
In March, almost 6.4 lakh was given the first and second dose.
Sanjay Deshmukh, Assistant Director (Medical), Pune Circle, said the vaccine supply is expected to streamline further next month.
“We also cannot rule out vaccine reserves in private hospitals.
Beneficiaries that can pay can get JAB in private hospitals.
It will provide civil sites if there is a vaccine shortage,” he said.
Subhash Salunke, the state government adviser in Covid-19, said the center must now still supply.
He said, “There is a lot of confusion among residents about the availability of vaccines.
The lack of clarity of the union government is responsible for it.
To vaccinate a large number of these second-dose recipients in July, we will be in a mercy of the center.
If it fails to send a sufficient dose, no There will be enough drive for beneficiaries.
