LONDON: Nearly half of gay and bisexual men in England has been attacked by sexually, a survey found on Thursday, because more victims of LGBT + rape around the world speak, including under the hashtag #metoogay.
The level of sexual violence among Gay and BI men is 45% – 10 times the public male population, according to a survey of 505 gay men and BI by Survivorsuk, a charity that supports the survivors of male sexual violence.
“Because we are socialized to see rape as something that happens to women and done by men, I think it is often more difficult for men to identify their experiences as sexual violence,” said Alex Feis-Bryce, Head of Survivorsuk.
After the #Metoo movement, where women share experiences of sexual violations by strong people in business, entertainment, media and politics, many French gay men broke their silence on Twitter this year with the #Metoogay hashtag.
The UK survey found that only 14% of Gay and BI victims reported sexual attacks on the police, with many people afraid they would be judged or armed.
Feis-Bryce said he was raped when he was 18 years old, on the second night came out after starting the university, at a party of houses by the host after being given what he believed was barbed drinks.
“I can’t even think about what happened to me as a rape, because I almost didn’t think it was something that could happen to men,” he told the Thomson Reuters foundation.
Data on Gay and BI Adolescents’ experiences from sexual attacks are relatively rare, but government data A.S.
From 2010 to 2012 found nearly 40% of BI and Gay men said they had sexual violence, more than doubled the level of a straight man.
