New Delhi: Amar Jyoti Johoti or “Abadi Flame” at the Indian gate went out after 50 years on Friday and joined the flame in the national war memorial side.
The ceremony was led by the Head of the Air Integrated Defense Staff Marshal Balabadhra Radha Krishna who combined two fire.
The Indian gate was built by the British for the memory of 84,000 Indian soldiers who killed fighting for the Empire in World War-I and Afghan campaigns.
Amar Jyoti Jyoti, in turn, was built under the arch by the Government of Indira Gandhi to honor 3,843 the army who died released Bangladesh in 1971.
All national level functions to pay homage to fallen soldiers, including the Republican Day and Independence Day had shifted from Amar Jawan Jyoti to National War Memorial after being inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019.
The opposition slammed the center for his move to extinguish Amar Jyoti Jawan and combine him with fire on the commemoration of the National War and accused the BJP government “removing history”.
Former Congress Head Rahul Gandhi hit, said some people could not understand patriotism and sacrifice, and added that the Congress would turn on the Jyoti Jyoti Agar once again.

Meanwhile, The Center stated that the flame Amar Jyoti Jyoti did not go out, but was combined with a flame at the National War Memorial.
