New Delhi: Amar Jyoti or “Abadi Flame” at the Indian Gate Iconic will be extinguished after 50 years on Friday and joined the flame in the commemoration of the National War (NWM) side by side on the day of the Republic of this year.
“The part of the flame at Amar Jyoti Johoti will be taken to NWM during a serious ceremony to combine two fire around 3:30 p.m.
on Friday.

The Indian gate was built by the British for the memory of 84,000 Indian soldiers who killed fighting for the Empire in World War-I and Afghan campaigns.
Amar Jyoti Jyoti, in turn, was built under the arch by the Government of Indira Gandhi to honor 3,843 the army who died released Bangladesh in 1971.
All national level functions to pay homage to fallen soldiers, including the Republican Day and Independence Day had shifted from Amar Jawan Jyoti to NWM after being inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019.
