Chandigarh: Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday agreed to attend the Congress Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu installation ceremony, ending speculation that he could boycott the event on Friday.
CM will also accommodate MLA parties and parliamentarians over tea before Sidhu assumes costs.
Amarinder had previously placed the prerequisite that Sidhu had to openly apologize for the ‘degrading’ tweet before he agreed to meet Sidhu.
The source said that the intervention in the two camps was by AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi and the incharge party from Punjab Bidds were intensified for a ceasefire.
However, people in the party felt that regardless of his appetite, it would be too early to consider disbursement in the tense Amarinder relationship with Sidhu.
On Thursday, two of the four presidents of PCC work, Kuljit Singh Nagra and very Singh Gilzian, reached the CM student farm and submitted two invitation letters – one signed by 57-strange MLA and other personal invitations from Sidhu to Amarinder.
Sidhu wrote to CM that he had “no personal agenda” and as “the family of the oldest Punjab Congress”, CM must come and bless the new PPCC team.
“My determination and commitment about the punjab problem and fulfill the 18-point high command pro-people agenda for the welfare of each Punjabi famous for you and all,” he wrote.
