New Delhi: The Amazon US E-Tailer has submitted a direct petition at the Delhi High Court which seeks clarification of alleged employee abuse by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
In addition, the US e-tailer questioned the scope of ed investigation into alleged foreign exchange violations by the company in connection with investment in 2019 in the future of coupons, future group companies, for 49% of the shares.
The development was approaching the heel of Indian antitrust supervisors, the Indian Competition Commission (CCI) suspended the 2019 agreement based on where Amazon struggled several legal battles to block the sale of future group assets to rely on retail around Rs 25,000 Crore.
The future group, estimated to be the second largest retailer of India, operates several businesses throughout the country including the Big Bazaar supermarket chain.
While the Amazon spokesman did not comment on this story, LED E-Tailer Jeff Bezos said earlier that it received an ed call.
Last month, Ed had called the Head of Indian Amit Agarwal and the Executive of the Future Group.
According to the submission of a court, which has been reviewed by Toi, e-Tailer said that some employees who were not related to the upcoming group agreement were also questioned by ED in a broader investigation.
“Ed does not have the necessary jurisdiction, below section 13 read with part 37 Fema to investigate problems related to people who join or leave the Indian Amazon Entity Law team in India; Payments made by Indian entities in the Indian Rupee to the company Indian / law advice for services provided in India; and the same thing is irrelevant to information relating to future group transactions or, in without prejudice, for determination of control, “Amazon said in archiving.
“Investigation is fishing and traveling exercises.” Based on the 2019 agreement, which amazon claimed to give the right to retail in the future, the leading future group company, e-tailer has dragged Kishore Biyani-LED retailer to court for alleged violations of the contract after announcing the sale of assets proposed for reliance retail.
