Amazon has launched the Spotlight North East Storefront on the platform.
The Northeast India area is popular for unique GI products.
The store will help showcase this local product to Amazon customers throughout the country.
Amazon users will be able to buy products such as Chakshesang shawl from Nagaland, Muga Silk from Assam, various types of weaving such as Moirang Phee from Manipur, tea varieties and spices such as Mizo Chilli and more.
Spotlight North East Program was first announced by Amazon during the Sambhav event in April.
This program is designed to improve the local economy, create employment and accelerate financial inclusion and empowerment of women throughout the region.
This tried to take advantage of more than 50,000 weavers, craftsmen and small businesses in 2025 by facilitating access to technology and markets.
“This initiative will accelerate digitization in the region and provide opportunities for local businesses to utilize e-commerce, helping Northeast Indian Leapfrog into a strong economy and increasing its part in the country’s digital economy,” the company said.
As part of the program, Amazon has partnered with the North Eastern and Handicraft Development Corporation (NEHHDC) handlooms.
It will involve, skills and allow the community of craftsmen and weaver in 8 states throughout the region.
The craftsmen will also benefit under the Amazon Karigar program.
E-commerce companies will also hold training workshops to enable micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) throughout the region.
This workshop will include ideal sessions with leading designers from India on trends that appear to support craftsmen and weavers.
