Jaipur: Weathermeen on Monday said when Monsoon was active after a long gap or covering a region for the first time, it formed a Kumulonbus cloud which was mainly responsible for the storm and lightning.
This activity usually subsides after monsoon sitting with and widespread rainfall activity visible.
Toi spoke to scientists at Jaipur Met Office and IMD to find out what made areas vulnerable to lightning.
“First, the cloud of the Cumulonimbus office is responsible for lightning and storm in a certain region.
And the clouds are formed when the monsoon becomes active after a long break.
On Sunday, Monsoon arrived at Jaipur after delaying almost 22 days and this cloud triggered lightning,” Jaipur said Meet the Director of the Office of Radhey Sharam Sharma.
Asked how these clouds were formed, an officer, said, “This cloud is formed when warm air rises from the earth and two different air masses meet.
This cloud has an updraft and downdraft which causes the content induction to be realized in the form of a thunderstorm,” said a person Commissioned Officer.
Scientists at the IMD and Jaipur Met offices said when non-seasonal rainfall activities were seen, it also brought lightning.
“Cumulonimbus clouds are also formed during the cyclone system that can even bring lightning and hailstorm,” said a scientist at IMD-Delhi.
Authorities say even for lightning, they have various models that facilitate them to get timely estimates.
“We have our system that allows us to know about directions, areas and times where lightning can attack in certain regions.
We release estimates for this regularly,” the officer added.
Jaipur Met Office said next week when South West Monsoon covered the entire state, Lightnings would subside.
