Thane: The police on Friday looked down two people from the Thane Maharashtra district for carrying Ambergris worth Rs 4.30 Crore.
The duo was held near Jalan Ghodbunder Thane.
According to police Thane, officials have received a tip-off of the same thing, posing that the V branch branch team was deployed to capture the perpetrators.
On Thursday night, they intercepted a two-wheeled vehicle at the old Octroi post in the Ghodbunder and restored Ambergris from the duo.
“We confiscated 4.1 kilograms of Ambergris worth Rs 4.30 Crore from the Duo.
The case in the Wildlife Protection Act has been submitted and the coarse police further,” said a police officer.
This is the third time in June that Ambergris has been confiscated from the Thane and Mumbai regions.
Previously, a banned substance worth Rs 2.7 Crore and Rs 7 Crore recovered from Mumbai in two separate incidents.
Ambergris, or commonly known as Pope vomiting, was found in the intestine of the sperm whale.
It is listed in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Protection Act and is highly valued as the main ingredient in top-class perfumery and making drugs.
