Ambit NCDRC widens for faster disposal

Written by news2in

New Delhi: National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) will now entertain consumer complaints where the value of goods or services is more than RS 2 Crore as at the previous limit of more than Rs 10 Crore, according to the notification issued by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs.
Likewise, the district commission will have jurisdiction to entertain complaints to RS 50 Lakh value or services that oppose the initial limit to RS 1 Crore and the State Commission will entertain the case for more than Rs 50 Lakh and until Rs 2 Crore.
NCDRC and Countries can take complaints about the value of appeal.
The ministry said the norms had been revised with a faster disposal purpose of consumer complaints.
It is said after the 2019 consumer protection laws come into force, which is provided to increase the financial threshold to enter different consumer commissions, this observed caused a significant increase in the workload of the district commission and led to increased fat and delays in the disposal of cases.
This happens because these provisions lead to cases previously submitted in the National Commission to be submitted in the Commission and Case of the Country which could previously be submitted in the State Commission to be submitted in the District Commission.
The ministry said changes had been made after conducting extensive consultations with state and UTS, consumer organizations and legal chairs.
