Amravati Violence: Former Bonde Minister Held with 13 others

Amravati: Former Agriculture Minister Maharashtra and BJP leader Anil Bonde and 13 others were arrested on Monday in connection with the violence that erupted in the city of Amravati on November 13 where stones were thrown into shops during BIGP, police said.
Besides Bonde, Amravati District of BJP President Nivedita Chaudhary, Mayor of Chetan Gawande, spokesman for BJP State Shivrai Kulkarni was also arrested.
They were all produced before the court gave them a guarantee.
The police have a case that has so far registered 14,673 people under 26 different violations in connection with the re-incidence of violence on Friday and Saturday in Amravati City.
On Friday, a rally was issued by Raza Academy without permission in protest against the incident of communal violence recognized in Tripura where stones were thrown in different places.
The day after a horde threw stones in stores in Rajkamal Chowk and the nearest area as long as Bandh was called by BJP, after a curly curfew in the city of Amravati for four days and internet services were closed.
On Sunday night, the night was expanded to include four more cities in the district after local BJP leaders held protests.
“Registered violations of 8,364 people and nine of them were arrested in connection with the violence caused during the Raza Academy parade to Amravati Collectorate District on November 12, where there was no permit was sought,” Amravati police said in the release.
The police have registered a case against 6,309 people and arrested 53 of them for violence on November 13 and seized their weapons, he said, adding to the nine police officers, including an officer, injured in pelting BJP and other organizations.
The police have formed a separate team to investigate the two incidents.
Anil Bonde, who was detained at Nandgaon Khandeshwar on Sunday, was arrested from his home this morning while other BJP leaders and at least two VHP members surrendered before the police, after they were arrested.
The police have launched a search for tracking Pravin MLC Pote for alleged role in violence.
Police said the violence erupted on the damage property of Friday worth Rs 5.15 Lakh.
Meanwhile, the night was relaxed for two hours between 2pm and 4pm on Monday.
However, internet services are still suspended.
“The law and order situation is being reviewed and the last call at night will only be taken on the instructions of the State House Ministry,” said Police Commissioner Amravati Aarti Singh.
