Coimbatore: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapham’s Ammachi Labs and Women’s equality center and gender equality have provided skills development training to 90 unemployed young men, including 45 women, to help them find jobs under the Pradhan Mantri Kausana (PMKvy).
The aged between 18-35 years, young people came from part of the Ettimapai village which was socially marginalized or weaker near the campus.
Prema Pillai, Operational Lead for PMKvy – Special Project, Ammachi Labs, said this project has helped young people who are socially marginalized and lack economically fortunate to develop free skills.
Some have jobs with the industry and micro companies, while some others have started their own business.
Youth in rural areas lack resources and face a bad career prospect because of the absence of quality education.
If they migrate to the city, they only get unskilled jobs.
The lack of certified courses reduces their chances of negotiating a better salary.
But this project will help rural young people to secure a better livelihood, he said.
