Bijnor: The pair was arrested at Chandpur Road under the Dhanaura police station in Amroh District early on Sunday for allegedly smuggling 150 cartons of liquor with Arunachal Pradesh stamp worth Rs 11 lakh in mini trucks.
The couple was identified as Samarapal Singh, 35, and his wife, Sudha Devi, 30, from Musallepur Village under the Bachchhrau Police Station.
Two of their hands, Ravi Saini and Javed from Haipattur village traveling by car following a truck, managed to escape.
Mini trucks have fake number plates, police said.
Giving details, the Amroha supervisor from Police Poonam said, “The couple was involved in this evil activity for the past few years.
They bring liquor from other states and sell it up.
They were arrested from Chandpur Road early on Sunday after tip-off .
The case has been registered against them under the relevant parts of the IPC and the police tried to catch their escape hands.
