Amul can obtain private land for proposed plants in Rajkot

Rajkot: The proposed plant from the marketing federation of Gujarat Cooperative Milk (GCMMF) in Rajkot faces problems due to land desires.
The milk giant has rejected a 100-hectare land piece identified by Rajkot Collectorate near Anandpar because of its high price.
GCMMF has demanded another piece of land.
The total budget of the federation for the proposed plant is around Rs 500 Crore.
The source said that the 100-acre land offered by Rajkot Collectorate in the number of income surveys from the village of Anandpar, Navagam and Sokhda at Ahmedabad Highway valuable around Rs 2.75 Crore per Acre.
Amul has been looking for 100 hectares of land to install a milk processing plant with a capacity of 30 liters per day (LLPD).
“Factory costs and machines are expected to pass the RS 300 Crore so that we need a cheaper level of land.
We have asked the government to identify land in Bhavnagar Road.
If we do not find an affordable level of government, we will obtain private land,” said Deputy Chairperson GCMMF Valamji Humbar to Ti.
Rajkot is a strategic location for the factory for milk originating from all district of Saurashtra.
At present, around 30 LLPD from Saurashtra and Kutch are sent to the factory of Gandhinagar Amul where dairy products such as srikhand, chocolate, cheese and butter are produced.
Gandhinagar plants have the capacity to process 50 LLPDs.
“But the procurement of milk will increase to 60 llpd during the winter peak season.
We do everything to take milk surplus.
But after one more season, if we won’t be able to start our Rajkot plants, we will be forced to declare a milk vacation for a day during the season Cold peak.
This will result in a big loss for milk producers, “he said.
Milk vacation a day will lose costs around Rs 12 Crore to milk producers in the region.
Transportation costs are Rs 30 Lakh Day GCMMF currently spending Rs 30 lakh per day to transport milk surpluses from various parts of Saurashtra to Gandhinagar.
These costs will be saved and the collection of milk from this region will increase after the Rajkot plant begins to operate.
The time consumed in milk transportation will also decrease.
Milk collected from every location Saurashtra runs about 300 km before reaching the Gandhinagar plant.
