(GCMMF) has posted a leap of 17 percent in revenue during the 2019-20 financial year to RS 38,550 Crore.
In an interview with, Sodhi said growth slowed during the last fiscal but he expected sales back in the current financial year 2021-22.
“We reached a two percent growth of turnover during the last fiscal year to Rs 39,200 Crore,” Sodhi said.
However, he highlighted that the turnover of branded consumer products such as fresh milk, cheese, curd, milk butter and paneer increased 8.5-9%.
Sodhi said the sale of ice cream fell 35% the last fiscal mainly due to national locking during the summer.
He added that the business commodity business such as skim milk powder (SMP) was also affected.
Milk consumption and other dairy products remain strong but demand from hotels, restaurants and cafeterias (Horeca segment) is very affected, he said.
“We hope to return to a higher two-digit growth during the current financial year,” Sodhi said.
Cooperatives sell 150 latric liters of milk per day; Among other things, Gujarat contributed around 60 latris, Delhi-NCR 35 Lakh Liter and Maharashtra 20 latriters, he added.
It also sells milk in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Kolkata.
GCMMF has an installed processing capacity of 360 latris per day.
Recently, GCMMF climbed Amul milk prices by Rs 2 per liter throughout India from July 1 because of the increase in input costs.
Rates have increased after one and a half years.
As a policy, GCMMF passed at almost 80 Paise of every rupee paid by consumers for milk and milk products to milk producers.
Price revisions will help maintain remunerative milk prices to manufacturers of breast milk and encourage them for higher milk production, he added.
