Mangaluru: Mangalore University (MU) has not been able to launch a Human Trade Club activities (AHTC), several months after its formation.
To stop human trafficking, international justice mission, Bengaluru, along with the Ministry of Higher Education, has taken the initiative of the establishment of AHTC in all universities and colleges in Karnataka.
According to the details available with TOI, MU has passed the order to build AHTC in August last year.
MU also appointed members for the club, led by Jayaraj Amin, Professor, PG Study Department and research in political science.
It has been months since then, and there have been no activities carried out by the club.
The club, led by a chairman, has five members, a special invitation which is the Konaje police station sub-inspector, and the member secretary.
Jayaraj Amin said that the club had been prepared, and that he received orders in November.
“However, there are no single meetings or activities that have been carried out so far,” he said.
MU representative Chancellor P S Yadaditha said that he would look at the club that was inactive.
“I will meet the head of the committee and discuss why it does not hold a meeting or activity,” he added.
AHTC’s goal is to involve the community community to overcome human trafficking, in their capacity to spread consciousness, and work with the government and NGOs.
The club will help law enforcement agencies and related organizations to detect cases of human trafficking, and also help victims.
Club members will also act as informants for law enforcement agencies, to forward information that is possible about human trafficking in their region or region.
“The club has the power to raise strong votes against human trafficking, which is now rampant throughout the world,” said Saritha D’Souza, Head of Postgraduate Department of Criminology and Science and Forensic Director, Extension Service Center (CES), Social Work School, Roshni Nilaya .
College launched the AHTC in November last year.
