Lucknow: Twenty-one more people were treated at a civil hospital Dr.
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee on Tuesday after being sick due to contaminated drinking water in the area of Adda Balu.
From these patients, 16 are children aged 12 years and under.
Residents of the region, most children, suffer from acute diarrhea and gastroenteritis because of dirty water intake on Sundays.
At present, 31 patients are hospitalized.
Residents have told a team from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office that some complaints have been made to the district water department, but there are no concessions.
On Tuesday, residents also complained to Mayor Sanyucta Bhatia that water and waste pipes had been damaged due to work by city corporate contractors which caused mixing drinking water and waste.
“All patients respond to care and restore well.
They are most likely affected by dirty water.
Because these people are not all of them from one family, consumption of certain foods can be called the culprit of infection,” said Director of the Civil Hospital Dr.
Subhash Sundriyal.
CMO Dr.
Manoj Agarwal said routine checks for chlorine in water are being carried out in the area.
“We are testing our regular water samples for chlorine.
All samples from this area have sufficient chlorine presence in our test.
We will do stronger testing now, every week.
The main sample testing for water is the duty of the water department,” he said.
500 house to get chlorine tablets: Abhishek Prakash District Judge directed Jal Sansthan to distribute chlorine tablets at 500 houses in the Area Adda Balu to purify water before use.
DM also directs Jal Sansthan to conduct a technical audit of waste systems and water pipes in the area to find out the possibility of water mixup with leaks.
He also said that water supply from tube wells in the area must be examined.
