Analyze crime data, trends to provide specific inputs to the field unit: ADGP

Gurgaon: Additional Director General of Police (Crime) OP Singh, who is also the Director of the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB), has directed his team to work on data management, the introduction of patterns and trend analysis to provide specific inputs to all police district police.
That step, he said, will strengthen the detection of crime and help overcome criminal activities throughout the state.
Singh said police officers must have special input based on crime and patterns in their districts.
“This input recorded in the district police diary will be useful in reducing the crime graph and also set a target for police officers,” he said.
Whether it’s Gurgaon, Farendabad or Mahendragarh, he said, there is a large data with the police department but that needs to be analyzed to produce inputs that can be useful in making strategies.
Citing examples, he said, if a district has more cases of vehicle removal, officers can easily map hotspots, track criminals with previous records and analyze their modus operandi based on data.
“District police leaders must increase the level of year-on-year crime detection and it is possible by analyzing data effectively,” Singh said.
ADGP also said the Bureau would use the help of experts in database management, the introduction of patterns and trend analysis in an effort to distinguish the performance area and identify crime and trends so that officers who have the role of supervisors and field units can prioritize their work and allocate their resources and allocate their resources objective.
DGP PK Agrawal also directs the bureau to expand the scope of further work for the introduction of patterns and trend analysis.
He said the Bureau must take advantage of new competencies in database management and produce useful information for field units.
