Karwar: In sudden political development Uttara Kannada MP Anant Kumar Hegde on Monday visited the house of former Minister and Beta Noire Anand Asnotikar.
Even though the visit had raised eyebrows, both of them said that it was a courtesy visit to meet with a mother and former MLC Shubhalate Asnotikar.
Anand Asnotikar is MLA and minister in the BJP government in 2008-13.
He left the party because of his hostility with Hegde.
Anand was in BJP until 2018 but Hegde reportedly opposed to provide BJP used tickets for assembly elections.
Then the BJP ticket is given to Roopali up.
Asnikar joined JDS at the last moment and came the second push then sat down the MLA Satish Congress sailed to third place.
Roopali rises has defeated asnotikar with a margin of 17,000 votes.
There after asnotikar turned into one of Hegde’s big criticism.
During the polls of Lok Sabha 2019, Asnotikar stated that he would avenge his defeat by overcoming Hegde.
He was contested as a JD candidate supported by Congress from Uttara Kannada but was lost with a 4.5 lakh voice margin which was defeat, which was the highest margin in the state.
The hostility between the two continues because the asnotikar once said he was waiting for Anant Kumar Hegde to die.
He then pulled his statement and apologized by saying it was a slip tongue.
He continued to criticize Hegde on every occasion.
But MP’s sudden visit to Asnotikar’s house under the pretext of the Shubhalata meeting has caused speculation among BJP workers that Hegde, who is now not so well with MLA Roopali rises, is trying to different political equations during the next assembly poll.
Even though Roopali rose had accompanied Hegde to Asnotikar’s house on Monday, he nurtured the mother throughout the meeting.
But the meeting had sent ripples in the BJP circle with predictions that Asnotikar would rejoin BJP.
