CHENNAI: PMK youth wing president and Rajya Sabha member Anbumani Ramadoss on Wednesday condemned the murders of five people by gangs fuelled by alcohol rage on the first day of the reopening of Tasmac liquor outlets in Tamil Nadu.
Anbumani tweeted that two men in Chennai and three others in Madurai were killed in drunken brawls on Monday.
He expressed shock over similar drunken brawls leading to murders in other districts in the state.
“It is now proved on the first day of reopening of liquor outlets that alcohol was the reason behind the murders.
In the coming days, alcohol will be the root cause for the increasing incidence of all sorts of crimes,” he said.
Anbumani said liquor is destructive in every possible way.
“The government must close down all liquor shops permanently considering the welfare of people,” he said.
