Mumbai: Central Railway (CR) has decided to expand all CSMT-Andherher and Panvel-Andheri services to Goregaon, allowing more passengers to travel with port lines.
At present, 21 pairs or 42 services are running between CSMT and Goregaon and 9 pairs or 18 services between Panvel and Goregaon.
A senior official said, “We are working on a new schedule, according to existing 22 pairs of services that run between CST and Andheri will be extended to Goregaon from December.
Similarly, 9 pairs of services that run between Panvel and Andheri will be extended too.” There will be Additional operational benefits run all port services on Western train routes from Goregaon, not Andheri.
Previously, there was a termination platform, outside the ground that did not run on the port line in Andheri.
Now, because the line has been extended, there is no terminating platform in Andheri.
Operating Andher service means the train first runs on the path down and then has to be taken to the track up to travel to the CSMT.
It also makes one platform occupied, thus blocking the movement of the train.
More Goregaon services mean that not only passengers at this station are from Jogeshwari, RAM Mandir and even Malad can use the train.
If a large number of commuters from the Malad-Goregaon shift to Goregaon’s local residents, there will be more assistance to Borivli and Kandivli commuters because they can get adequate space in their special services.
Line port service was extended to Goregaon on March 29, 2018.
Not all services were extended to Goregaon, because the problem of crew management as train was operated by CR and Wr.
Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) has now tightened plans to extend the port line to Borivli.
Work is expected to begin soon because tenders tend to be warred in a few weeks.
The port extension path to Borivli has been planned under the Transport Transport Project Mumbai Urban 3A with the cost of Rs 825.
6 Crore.
This project will be executed by WR and all corridors will appear on the west side of the existing tracks.
The Maladen station on the proposed port line extension will be at a high level.
