Hyderabad: The day after the official team from the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) visited the disputed Rayalaseema scheme (RLIS) site, Telangana on Thursday asked KRMB to hold Andhra Pradesh from diverting water from the Srisailam reservoir.
Telangana accused the AP diverting water through three projects called illegal.
It was said that the water was transferred through Muchumarri, Link Canal Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi raised irrigation schemes in Malyala, with KC channels and fled channels from the Balischerla cross regulator to feed the AyaCut Canal KC.
The Telangana Irrigation Department Engineer Chip Curidhar in his letter to the Chairperson of the KRMB, MP Singh, said the AP had used more water than allocated 31.90 TMCFT and transferred it out of the basin.
He said he would have a negative impact on many Telangana irrigation projects such as Sagar Nagarjuna and drinking water supplies for Hyderabad.
He said Water Disputes Krishna Court (KWDT) -I imposed restrictions on water utilization in Tungabhadra sub-basins and added the Tungabhadra River which contributed the mainstream flow to the mainstream Krishna.
Head of Irrigation said the KC canal was originally conceived as a navigation channel from the Tungabhadra River in Sunkesula Anicut and then the irrigation component was added.
“This is one of the many components of negligence in the intentional Telangana region in United.
Telangana challenges the same before KWDT-II asks to resist the AP not to use more than 10 TMCFT for KC channels,” he said.
