Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his players were fully aware of the challenges of playing in Liverpool with the London Club who wanted to end the lines without a nine-year victory at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday.
Arsenal is the basis of the table in August after losing their first three league matches but the Arteta team has jumped to fifth at 20 points after 11 matches, with eight unbeatable matches.
The London Club, however, has not won a league match at Anfield since 2012, when Arteta is still playing for them.
“This is a test,” said Arteta told reporters on Friday.
“Anfield is an interesting stadium to play football.” You must be the best and increase your level with emotionally, physical, technical and tactical standards because if you won’t expose.
“To go to Anfield it’s always a test.
But again if you can do it too, there aren’t many good reasons to feel that you are the right footballer.” Arteta said the side in its form would want to maintain their momentum by playing on the “highest level” against Liverpool, which is the place above them at the table at 22 points.
“Juergen (Klopp) and his staff have managed to bring the club to the best moments in their history and sustainable which is the hardest thing to do,” Arteta said about their opponents.
“They have changed the energy around that place, what they have created in the stadium is something special and they have been very successful.” Arteta said that Thomas Partey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be assessed before the match due to injury problems, while Sead Kolasinac (left ankle) and Granite Xhaka (right knee) still recovered.
