Thiruvananthapuram: In a surprising incident, a dog was beaten to death by two teenagers and a young man in Adimathura.
The incident was revealed after Christuraj, one of the dog owners, released a brutal dog video exchanged for death on Facebook.
The video showed the dog, tied up with his neck to the hook of a boat fishing bait, beaten with a heavy stick by three people.
The incident occurred on Monday morning.
Inspector G Ramesh, Station House Officer, Police Vizhinjam, said that the police have registered cases that request relevant parts related to cruelty towards animals.
“However, we have not accused accused of being offenders, young people were seen in the video attacking dogs, all under 18 years old,” said the inspector.
The dog, a Black Labrador named Bruno, was raised together by eight siblings who lived in adjacent houses.
The complaint was submitted by Sony P, Sister of Christuraj.
They carry dogs together for the past eight years.
Sony said that they were destroyed by what happened to Bruno.
“He has been with us for eight years.
Our children play with him and he will eat from all our houses.
He is a family for us.
Recently he starts going to the beach.
Usually he will go and come back during the day, “Sony said.
Martin, one of the siblings, bought Bruno at the age of one year.
Since then, he is with family.
Sony said that the rope would be easily broken and they planned to buy a new one so locked up.
When Bruno lost on Monday morning, Andrew, brother-in-law Sony went looking for a dog.
He found their pets beaten by a group of young men on the beach.
He could not face them because he lost the amount.
He was told that Bruno ran from the beach and lay under a fishing boat and they beat the dog.
When Andrew looked at, the young men threw dead dogs into the sea.
Although the complaint was submitted on Tuesday, the police had not taken any action, said Sony.
“We learned that they buried this problem with the help of one of the relatives employed at the nearby coastal police station.
We feel we will not get justice and we go up to Facebook so that everyone will know what happened to our Bruno,” Sony said.
After filing a complaint of the police, young men came to their homes with iron rods and threatened them that they would also suffer the fate of their dog, he added.
