Anger in Nepal over Indian plans to expand the road to Lipulekh

New Delhi: Proposal for widening the road to the Lipulekh Pass area in Uttarakhand has led to the round of anger in Nepal with opposition and parties in the powerful coalition asking India not to damage the sovereignty and integrity of Nepal’s territorial.
Nepal claimed Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and the Kalapii area near Tri-intersection with China as his own and issued a previous new political map to justify his claim.
While the Nepalese coalition government has so far remained silent in comments by PM Narendra Modi last month on road expansion, the main ruling party, Nepal congress, said in a statement on Friday that India’s decision to expand the road better.
It was also called in India to immediately remember his troops from the region.
“The Nepal Congress is clear that Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and the Kalapiece are Nepal’s region.
Nepal must have the right to use this geography.
Indian forces placed in the Pandi must be returned,” he said in the statement.
Modi said at a public event in Haldwani on December 30 that India, besides working on Jalan Tanakpur-Pithoragarh, also built a road to Lipulekh and “it was being expanded”.
While the construction of the road to Lipulekh passed near Tri-Junction with China leads to one of the worst diplomatic crises between India and Nepal in recent memories, the Indian government has stated that the road only followed the existing route used by Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims Yatra.
Under this project, when the government previously said, the same road had been made bending for the convenience and comfort of pilgrims, locals and traders.
Nepal claimed the Lipulekh area and the Kalapan in Uttarakhand even when the area remained under the control of Indian administration.
Other authorities, CPN (Socialist Unified), said in a statement earlier this week that every development activity carried out in the region without consultation with the Government of Nepal was “truly illegal and was a striking violation of our territorial integrity and national sovereignty”.
.
“The Indian government really knows that the Lipulekh area, the Kalapiai and Limpiyadhura is a sovereign area of Nepal.
We want to ask the Nepalese government to take the steps needed to protect our territory at the border,” said the former PM JHALA Nath Khanal, who also headed the party’s international wings .
The statement, according to Khanal, in response to comments by Modi in Uttarakhand that the road “built illegally” in the Nepal Lipulekh region widened.
The main opposition of the Communist Party of Nepal-UML has also triggered an overhaustion by calling on India to end activities that violate sovereignty, territorial integrity and Nepalese self-esteem.
“CPN-UML Without a doubt believes that road construction and other structures must be stopped, this problem must be resolved soon through dialogue and no structure that must be built at the state level until the resolution is achieved through dialogue,” said the party in a statement.
The party also urged the government to immediately begin a dialogue with India about this problem, and asked India to stop “all types of intimidation and to take useful initiatives to establish practical ownership of Nepal over the edges.”
