Letter: The Valsad police on Saturday caught a automatic rickshaw driver who killed his alienated wife.
Both of them have lived separately for the past six years.
Angry at the rejection of the victim to return to him, the defendant killed him, police said.
The police said that the killer sentenced Mitna to follow his wife Mamta (30) and killed him when he was on his way to his uncle’s house in Umaram on Thursday night.
Father Mamta Dalpat submitted a murder case against his son-in-law at the Umaram Marine Police Station on Friday.
Dalpat claimed that shortly before Mamta’s death told him that Mitna had slited his throat and stabbed him several times.
According to Dalpat, Mamta had left her husband about six years ago when Mitna was used to eliminating the suspicion of his affair.
Bored with daily torment, Mamta has returned to his parents’ house with his children.
Dalpat told the police that Mitna often came to their house and tried to convince Mamta to return to him, but he always refused.
On Thursday night, when Mamta went to Uncle Dhansukh’s house, Mitna followed him and attacked him near Jalan Sutharfaliya.
After slitting his throat, he stabbed him before running away.
Locals inform the dalpat about the following attack where Mamta was taken to the hospital in Bhilad where he was referred to another hospital in Vapi.
He gave up on injury during hospital treatment in Vapi.
The police said that before he died when his parents asked him, Mamta told them that Mitna attacked him.
“We have arrested him, but have not interrogated him about how he committed a crime and about murder weapons,” said a police officer.
