Mumbai: Former Home Minister Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh has seen again appearing in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the money laundering case stating that he took another way for “legitimate drugs” for the protection of his freedom.
This is the fifth time the 71-year-old NCP Minister refused to appear before Ed.
Deshmukh sent a three-page reply to the case investigation officer through his lawyer said that the Supreme Court had “made it open to me to take another way for all the appropriate solutions available under the CRPC (criminal procedure code) including the submission of the request dismissal”.
He added that he took another way for the treatment of legal for the protection of his freedom “in one or two days”.
Deshmukh added that he was a law-obedient law “when he asked for an agency to record his statement through electronic media, until the time” the right order was passed by the court “.
The next step becomes vomiting by the agency not to be told.
Ed had issued a fifth call letter to Deshmukh and his son Hrishikesh after the Supreme Court on August 16 rejected temporary protection to politicians from the action of coercion by the federal body.
The three judges headed by justice A M Khanwilkar, however, said that Deshmukh was in Liberty to access the solution.
Deshmukh last month issued a video statement stating that he would appear in front of Ed “after” the APEX court decision about his petition.
“I have received an ed call after that I filed a petition at the Supreme Court.
I will go to Ed to record my statement after the SC decision about my petition,” Dishmukh said.
The call was issued for the former home minister in connection with a criminal case listed under the prevention of money laundering Law (PMLA) related to the alleged RS 100 Crore Briber-Cum-Extortion Racket at the establishment of Maharashtra Police which led to Dishmukh’s resignation in April.
The agency has raided Deshmukh’s place in Mumbai and Nagpur in June apart from his maid and several others.
It then caught two aides, Sanjeev Palande’s personal secretary (51) and Kundan Shinde’s personal assistant (45).
The case of Ed against Deshmukh and the other was made after the CBI posted him in a corruption case related to allegations at least RS 100 Crore bribery made by former Police Commissioner Mumbai Param Bir Singh.
Ed recently also attached assets worth Rs 4.20 Crore Deshmukh and his family.
Ed had claimed the probe found that “Deshmukh, while acting as Minister of Internal Affairs Maharashtra, with dishonest intentions have received illegal satisfaction around RS 4.70 crore cash from various bar orchestra owners, through Sachin Waze, then Mumbai Police Inspector Assistant Police.” The NCP leader has repeatedly denied mistakes in this instance and his lawyer has mentioned ED action against him cannot be justified.
Deshmukh said Singh made the accusation against him after he was issued from the position of Police Commissioner Mumbai.
