Animals roam freely on Abandoned ghat road

Now the regular rush over the winding ghat roads resulting in Valparai is lacking, lion-tailed macaques and Nilgiri tahrs have begun roaming freely about the elongate which just locates occasional movement of ambulances and vehicles of both government personnel.
On Thursday afternoon, when TOI shot the ghat road, a herd of Nilgiri tahr was seen to the panoramic 13th hairpin bend.
Four adults, together with a fawn, were spotted leisurely walking round the street and grazing to the slopes.On regular days, drivers would stop from the 9th to 14th hairpin bends to sight the tahr, however just to become defeated many a moment.
Lion-tailed macaques were found lazing along the street.
Over a couple of these were seen playing with one another, plucking fruits out of the jungle trees and ingesting them.
They move off if an ambulance speeds beyond the stretch.Birds also were seen all over the ghat area, an uncommon sight.
Malabar whistling thrush, Kingfisher and bulbul, amongst others, were seen on how uphill from Pollachi.
