Ankit Gujjar Case: ‘Check Angle Governance’

New Delhi: The CBI on Thursday told the Delhi High Court that it “surpassed” the death of Ankit Gujjar inmates in Tihar Jail earlier this year and examined extortion aspects on a larger probe.
The agency told the justice of Mukta Gupta, which had previously moved the probe from Delhi police to the CBI, investigations in this case were at an important stage and tended to be completed in a month.
The judge gave the CBI time to submit a status report in the sealed cover and asked the investigative officer to “take action” if there was a threat to every witness.
Gujjar, 29, was found dead in his cell in Tihar Jail on August 4 this year.
The court heard the petition by the deceased family accused his death for harassment by prison officials for not meeting their money demand.
“We are examining extortion and murder.
We will go beyond this case and look at a larger conspiracy …
We have been looking for bank accounts (from relevant people),” said CBI Coissel.
The advice confirms that the CBI “connects the chain” and “in a month, the complaint raised by the applicant will be sorted”.
He added that the statement of 60 witnesses was recorded and looked for court permits to submit a status report in the sealed cover.
Lawyer Mehmood Pracha, appeared for the applicant, stating that there were eyewitnesses who needed adequate protection against coercion in prison and delivered that CCTV cameras were deliberately turned off at the time of the incident.
In September, the court had transferred an investigation into Gujjar’s death from Delhi police to the CBI after doing things that died “losing his life for custodian violence”.
Observing that it was unexpected that the prison doctor failed to see several injuries to the deceased, the court had said that the investigation was needed not only brutally beaten violations but also became “the role of prison doctors did not provide proper care at the right time”.
The court also observed that the prison of excavation “failed to pay attention to the relationship / cheating” from the Deputy Prison Inspector who did not allow local police to enter into prison to ask PCR calls made about the beatings of the deceased.
