Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh police have submitted 49 fir against at least 128 people since Yogi Adityanath Government passed the anti-conversion law, a prohibition on the conversion of the religious law, about seven months ago.
Chargesheets has been submitted in 22 cases, 76 people have been arrested and investigations are underway in 24 cases.
In three cases, the police had submitted a final report after the allegations were found baseless.
“Senior officers monitor investigations in all cases related to illegal conversion.
Police officials have been directed to start actions on the basis of evidence,” said Director General (ADG), law and order, said Prashant Kumar.
“We maintain a case record related to illegal conversion.
In three cases, there was no evidence found on the 16 defendants after that the final report was submitted,” Kumar said.
ADG said each district police chief had been directed to accelerate 24 fir where the investigation was waiting.
A maximum of 12 firets registered in the Meerut zone, followed by Bareilly (10).
Police Commissioner Noida has the best disposal level with a probe settlement in four of the total five cases.
The Kanpur police zone is the only zone in the state that has not yet recorded one fir for illegal repentance.
Meanwhile, in the first action of its kind in such cases, the police attach the properties of the population of Sitapur, Zubrail, ordered under the law in December last year.
