Anti-Conversion Law: HC Problem Notification for Guj

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Thursday issued a notification to the State Government while hearing the petition that challenged the provisions of the new laws that punished forced religious conversion or fraud through marriage.
The Chair of the Division of the Chief Justice of Vikram Nath and Justice Biren Vaishnav, who heard Plea, issued a notification to the state government and asked him to submit a reply, and keep the next trial on August 17.
The petition against the Freedom of Gujarat (Amendment) Act, 2021, was submitted last month by Chapter Gujarat from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind.
This law was notified on June 15.
During the Virtual Hearing Thursday, Senior Advocate Mihir Joshi, which appeared for Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, said the observable law had an unclear term that contradicted the basic principles of marriage and the right to spread, claimed and practiced religion as immortalized in the article 25 Constitution.
“If I say you will enjoy a better life after marriage, whether it is a look, as mentioned in the law, which number violations? The law said no person to be converted by using strength, loan, Carragulent means and Marriage.
So it’s a violation if two people with different religions are married? The law even allows family members to submit a criminal complaint, “Joshi said.
Judge Vaishnav, while overcoming the Petitioner of the Manaha Lavkumar government, asked, “If someone marries someone different, you will send him to prison and then check whether the marriage uses strength or not?” Because the government applicant was looking for time to examine the law and submit a reply to the disbursement raised, the court delayed hearing until August 17.
The state government has passed the Bill of Freedom of Religion (Amendment) during the budget period, and Governor Acharya Devvrat gave his approval on May 22.
It came into force on June 15, and since then some fir it has been submitted in various Gujarat companies under controversial law.
