Ahmedabad: To protect people from “unnecessary harassment”, the Gujarat High Court on Thursday still has certain parts related to the marriage of the new anti-conversion law.
On June 15, the Gujarat government had told Gujarat’s religious freedom (amendment) law, 2021, who punished religious repentance forced or fraud through marriage.
The temporary order has been “forwarded to protecting people from unnecessary harassment”, the division bench consisting of chairman of Judge Vikram Nath and Justice Biren Vaishnav.
Last month, Chapter Gujarat from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind submitted a petition that said some parts of the legal amendments were not constitutional.
On Thursday, the chairman of the Judge Nath said, “We argue that waiting for further hearing, the severity of parts 3.4, 4A to 4C, 5, 6, and 6A will not operate only because of a marriage that is resolved by someone religion with other religions without strength , view or a means of fraud and such a marriage cannot be called a marriage for the purpose of repentance that violates the law.
“” The temporary command is to protect the parties who consider interfaith marriage from unnecessary harassment, “he said.
