AHMEDABAD:”Gujarat authorities have registered the initial FIR from the nation below the newly-notified law against forcible or deceptive religious transformation during union, and detained a 26-year-old guy in Vadodara city,” a senior officer said on Friday.
According to a complaint, the Gotri authorities of Vadodara registered the FIR and detained Samir Qureshi beneath the Gujarat Freedom of Religion (Amendment) Act, 2021, that prevents strict punishment for forcible religious conversion during union.
“Qureshi, that conducts a mutton store with his dad, allegedly enticed a lady of some other faith by posing as a Christian and introduced herself to her since Sam Martin on societal networking from 2019,” deputy commissioner of police, Zone 2, Vadodara town, Jayrajsinh Vala stated.
“As stated by the complainant, Qureshi, with his fake identity on interpersonal networking, immobilized her in the name of love then raped her.
The accused began blackmailing her with her objectionable photographs and compelled her to wed him.
He forced her to get an abortion through their courtship,” he told reporters.
“The woman, who had been under the belief that Qureshi is a Christian, inquired regarding the accused along with his religion about a year ago if a”nikah” service was organised rather than a Christian marriage after she consented to marry him” the officer stated.
“After marriage, the accused changed her title and then began forcing her to convert,” Vala said, including that the accused verbally abused the victim utilizing casteist slurs.
