The troops of defending Taliban in North Afghanistan said they had taken three districts close to the Panjshir valley where the remnants of government forces and other militia groups had gathered.
General Defense Minister Bismillah Mohammadi, who had vowed to fight the Taliban, said in the tweet that Deh Saleh Regency, Bano and Pul-Hesar in Baghlan Province had been taken.
Not immediately clear that the power was involved but the incident added an indication of opposition spread to the Taliban.
Tolo News TV Station quoted a police commander who said Bano District in Baghlan was under the control of local militia troops and said there were serious victims.
Taliban have not commented on the incident.
Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh, who said he was a legitimate state president after the escape of Ashraf Ghani, and Ahmad Massoud, the son of the former Anti-Soviet Mujahideen Commander, Ahmad Shah Massoud, had vowed to fight the Taliban from Panjshir, who drove the two Soviet troops.
