Trichy: Idol Wing Cid Police restored an antique zamrud lingam from the bank locker in Thanjavur Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
The source of Police Wing Idol said that Zamrud Lingam could be worth Rs 500 Crore.
Acting on the tip-off that antique idols were stored in a house in Thanjavur, the team of officers led by additional supervisors from Police R Rajaram and P Ashok Natarajan searched for the place on Thursday.
The team conducted an investigation with N S Arun, son of Na Samiyappan, 80.
Arun told the police that his father had maintained an antique zamrud lingam in the bank’s locker.
Police Wing Idola said Arun handed over Lingam to the investigation.
The police said Arun was ‘stupid’ about how and from where his father got Zamrud Lingam.
The police suspected that Zamrud Lingam might belong to the temple.
They enrolled the case and started an investigation.
A senior officer said Samiyappan worked with an investigation.
